The memory of me being totally depressed and then I played 4 or 5 songs from them and it was like a cure… <3 Thank you Keane!

We are broken - that’s why I don’t really like to listen to this song

I do this just for fun :) This is a translation of my (polish) review. 

Sinners Never Sleep

1. Loverboy - first single from the record, I loved it from the first seconds: energetic intro and “old” sound.

JOSH: “We wanted to lure people into the record with something that still has an essence of You Me At Six, but it also indicates where the record is going. This song’s not about anything, I just pieced the song together because I like the way the lyrics flow.”

I had a huge pleasure to hear it during Coke Live Music Festival 2011. Poland was a second country they’ve played this song live (and I was one of very few who sang it, one week after it was released :D )  8/10

2. Jaws on the floor - when I saw titles of all songs on the net, this was a title that got my attention the most :) It wasn’t that punk-pop sound I remembered, it was definitely more rock!

MAX: “It’s a big summer rock song. It’s fun and lively. We’ve been listening to rock music - not pop-punk really - and you can see that in songs like this.”

I LOVE IT! Especially “Life’s a bitch, but I’m friends with her sister” - that’s the kind of lines I love this band for. Pure Genius :D!!! This is not the most characteristic song from the album but it’s still ah-mazing 8/10

3. Bite My Tongue - after hearing 15 sec of this song in “Bite My Tongue” trailer I went NUTS! I listened to it all the time, after getting the album this was the first song I’ve listened to. I was totally amazed by the vocals of Josh and Olly.

At first I wasn’t really sure who was Josh singing about, but then I found the quote from the interview…

JOSH: “Bite My Tongue is about the dark periods we’ve had in the band. This is me saying to the other four, ‘You’re not always as great as you think you are. Nor am I.’ Musically, this is us at our heaviest and angriest, and Oli Sykes [Bring Me The Horizon] has a unique voice for that.”

MAX: “This is definitely one of the heaviest songs we’ve done. It’s ballsy.” 10/10

4. This Is The First Thing - I fell in love with this one after just 5 seconds… Totally love the “oh’s”

Woah woahoah, oh oh, woah.

JOSH: “Max had the riff to this for so long. We basically ignored him for three years. But once we got a chorus to it,  it worked. The song is about lost love and my girlfriend - as if I didn’t talk about it enough on the last record.”

MAX: “Finally getting this riff on an album is my biggest achievement!”

It’s really cool knowing that Josh’s singing about his personal feelings, you can hear the honesty in his voice… <3 9/10

5. No One Does It Better - this is their newest single and I just totally love the music video and the end with “No one does it better” part.

MAX: “This is quite a day-dreamy song; you can sit back and chill out to it. It’s one of my favourites.”

Really like it!  8/10

6. Little Death -This song deserves a lot of attention! First time I’ve heard it was when they played it in BBC1. From the first second I loved the chorus and I waited for a studio version knowing that it’s going to be even better! After I read what Josh had said about this song… it became even more important and amazing for me.. and probably any fan…

JOSH: “I’m not religious but I do believe there’s something out there. This song is about my frustration that both Dan and Chris’ dads passed away, and neither of them should have. This is me talking to the dude upstairs and telling him that we’re not getting along right now. The title, though, isn’t about death at all. The French call an orgasm a little death, so we wanted to call the album that. The label said no, so it’s a song title instead.”

The song is incredible! It’s energetic, but also “grim”. This is You Me At Six - I love the most! <3 9,5/10

7. Crash - when I first got the album I had to listen to it immediately, so after hearing previous 6 songs couple of times each of them, I finally got to listen to this one! It was pretty late. First thing that got my heart beating a little faster was the violin and that soft intro <3! Songs is a kind of a love story. Josh’s singing about different stages of love; how it can destroy you, and rebuild you, and make you remember it forever.

JOSH: “It’s quite an epic sounding song because we’ve got an eight-piece string section on it. It’s quite obvious what this song is about - each verse is a different stage of love and a relationship. It’s about the impact someone can have on your life - how they can tear you apart and rebuild you.”

MAX: “We’ve not done anything like this before. It took us out of our comfort zone.”

8. Reckless - It was the song from the album, that I’ve listened to the most times for the first week. It really fits me and my friends. It’s filled with youth and random feelings! I can’t imagine anyone over 45- listening to it :D This song makes me feel really really great!

JOSH: “There’s a Foo Fighters song on their new album and originally, accidentally, this had the same chord progression and same effect on it. When we heard the Foo Fighters’ track, we went, ‘Oh fuck,’ and just left it. Then Max started messing around and came up with a different way of playing it.”

MAX: “Foo fighters? No, no, no - to me, it sounds like The Killers. It’s another great summer jam.”

9. Time is money - Harrddd! Love the guitar riff! Listening to it, it doesn’t really feel like it’s them, like it’s YMAS. I’m totally scared of Winston McCall part, but that  “growling aka screamo”  is ah-mazing. I got used to it :) 

JOSH: “As soon as I heard Max’s riff, I knew this song was going to be a pissed off song. Having had Oli [Sykes] sing one track, I always thought it would be great to get Winston [McCall] on another one. What he did was everything I wanted it to be and more.”

MAX: “Winston really gives it character. People don’t expect us to make this kind of music, but it shows a different side to us.”  6,85/10 :P

10. Little Bit Of Truth - OK! I have to admit that I’m a drums fetishist! This song made me feel really turned on and touched. I LOVE IT! I love those guys being so gentle and amazing :) Again the violin and THE VOICE! I can listen to Josh every hour of every day! Totally worth of the time. I would give everything to hear this band live again! So @Joshmeatsix ! Come to Poland as soon as you can :)

JOSH: “Without sounding cheesy, this is about how important our fans are to us. They give us a feeling of euphoria when we’re onstage.”

MAX: “When I heard this song played back in the studio, the hairs on my arm stood up.”

8,75/10

11. Dilemma - My first thought = THE KOOKS?Weird, I know, but that’s because of this upbeat I never heard from them before ;) I love the ending!

Who do you, who do you, think you are…

JOSH: “This was written about a time when I was single and I had about three girls on the go at the same time. It’s so upbeat it almost needs a burlesque video to go with it.”

MAX: “It’s got a bit of band-camp vibe to it.”

12. When We Were Younger -  After hearing all of the songs on the album, this one was the last one and it was 2:05 am when I got to listen to this track. The electronic intro - and I don’t know what to think… but then there goes the drums in a rhythm of marching… I was  waiting for the vocals to come… and suddenly THE END! The song lasts 6:12 min during which the tempo’s not really changing, and the tension is being felt through the whole song. It was so charming I was scared to play it again :D So that way the last track from the record became my favourite. I’m wondering if they play it live during concerts…

JOSH: “It’s about my parents and how I’ve slowly seen them become more vulnerable. When you’re younger, you think they’re superheroes but, eventually, you need to start looking after them.”

MAX: “I wrote this in the bus on the Warped Tour and I was listening to a lot of Pink Floyd. I wanted to write a really atmospheric song. People aren’t going to be expecting this.”

What’s going on in my life lately.

1. Still madly in love and can’t do a fucking thing about it!

2. My final exam’s are coming. Two months and I haven’t started learning yet…

3. I passed my driving licence! And I already have it in my wallet (coolest thing ever).

4. See some weird changes about my friends…

5. Finally feeling a little bit grown up :)

6. My dad’s retired and I’m freaking pissed about him being at home all the time.

7. Many parties on weekends = drinking and smoking (not good)

8. Crying a lot.

9. Feeling tired and bored of all.

10. I want the time to go back, when I was 15, and relive EVERYTHING!!!
